Advisory & Consulting

Grounded leadership, applied directly to the work that needs doing.

Advisory and consulting at humanKIND is for organizations and leadership teams navigating something real. James works as a fractional, embedded partner — not from the outside, but from inside the work.

The work

A partner who contributes — not just advises.

Advisory and consulting at humanKIND is for organizations and leadership teams navigating something real — a transition, a growth challenge, a cultural shift, a strategic inflection point that requires more than observation and a report. James works as a fractional, embedded partner, bringing over 30 years of leadership experience directly into strategy, decision-making, and execution. Not from the outside. From inside the work.

James brings experience across strategy, branding, marketing, product development, organizational design, and HR consulting — working with leadership teams and boards of directors on organizational vision, mission, and the plans that turn strategy into movement — on both the client and agency sides, across for-profit, non-profit, and founder-led organizations.

The goal is always to build internal capacity, not ongoing dependency.

The philosophical foundation of this work is the same as the coaching practice: that leadership is most effective, most durable, and most genuinely human when the person at the centre of it is aligned — when Being, Knowing, and Doing move together. That grounding does not appear as a framework to study. It appears as the quality of thinking, the honesty of conversation, and the calibre of judgment a partner brings into your organization.

What makes this different

Most advisory keeps a careful distance from the real work. This doesn't.

Traditional advisory relationships maintain a careful distance from the organizations they work with — observing, analysing, producing deliverables, and leaving execution to you. The result is insight without traction. Reports that sit on shelves. Recommendations that never quite translate into how people actually lead.

The difference between advice and contribution is whether you are still there when it gets hard.

humanKIND advisory and consulting is embedded and hands-on. James works as a fractional partner inside the leadership team, contributing directly to strategy, decision-making, and execution. Not as an observer who files a report. As a partner who shows up to the work.

Advisory and coaching work can also be combined — and often, this is where the most significant shifts happen. An organization may engage humanKIND for advisory work on a strategic or cultural challenge, while individual leaders within that organization engage in coaching in parallel. The two forms of engagement are distinct — different boundaries, different conversations — but they move in the same direction.

Advisory + Coaching

These engagements can work in parallel — organizational advisory alongside individual coaching for leaders within the same organization. Two distinct forms of work, moving in the same direction.

Who this is for

Organizations navigating something real.

The advisory work is most naturally suited to organizations in one of these situations:

01

Moving through significant growth and needing leadership infrastructure that can hold it without losing the culture that made growth possible.

02

Navigating a transition new leadership, restructuring, or a shift in strategic direction — and wanting to do it in a way that keeps people genuinely engaged.

03

Building or rebuilding organizational culture and recognising that culture is not a program — it is the sum of how leaders actually show up every day.

04

Working through a strategic realignment that requires both rigorous thinking and the ability to hold complexity without flattening it.

05

Leading through an AI-driven transformation and wanting to ensure that what makes your organization distinctly human remains the centre of how you compete.

06

Facing a leadership challenge that is partly strategic, partly organizational, and partly deeply human and needing a partner who can hold all three.

Areas of focus

Six areas. One integrated scope.

Every engagement is distinct. These are the areas where the advisory and consulting work typically operates — often in combination.

01

Leadership Team Development

Working with leadership teams to build the trust, honesty, and shared clarity that high-performance culture actually requires. Not a workshop. A sustained partnership.

02

Organizational Culture

Culture is not what you say it is. It is how your leaders behave when the pressure is on. We work with organizations to close the gap between stated values and lived reality.

03

Strategic Clarity and Alignment

Helping leadership teams and boards of directors clarify organizational vision and mission, think through complexity, and build the plans that turn strategy into movement.

04

Brand and Organizational Narrative

Drawing on 30+ years in branding and marketing to help organizations find and articulate the honest story at the centre of what they do — and lead from it.

05

Founder and Executive Transitions

Supporting founders and executives through the particular complexity of scaling themselves alongside their organizations.

06

Human-Centred AI Integration

Helping organizations navigate AI transformation in a way that strengthens rather than erodes the human qualities that make their leadership genuinely distinctive.

How engagements work

No fixed programs. Every engagement begins with an honest conversation.

There is no standard retainer, no fixed program, and no one-size engagement structure. Every advisory relationship begins with an honest conversation. Engagements typically take one of two forms:

How every engagement begins

Scoping conversation

An honest exchange about what your organization is navigating and what support would actually help. No pitch, no proposal — just a real conversation about fit.

Engagement design

Together we define the shape: defined-scope project or fractional partnership. Scope, rhythm, and timeline built around what the work needs, not a standard package.

Embedded partnership

James works inside the leadership team, contributing directly — not observing from the outside. The work begins immediately. The goal is always to build internal capacity.

The goal is always to build internal capacity, not ongoing dependency.

No pitch deck. No scope document. Just an honest exchange about what your organization is navigating and whether this is the right partnership.
