Leaders often come to this work during moments of tension or transition. Not because they’re failing, but because the way they’ve been leading no longer feels sustainable or honest.

This can include:

Coaching at humanKIND is a developmental relationship grounded in wholeness.

Outcomes matter, and accountability is part of the work. But the focus is on the leader as a whole human being — not a role, a title, or a performance to maintain. This work supports leaders in integrating how they think, feel, decide, and act, so leadership becomes more grounded, coherent, and sustainable.

Coaching creates space to step out of inherited expectations and performance-driven habits, and to see what’s actually happening. As clarity increases, leaders move out of reaction and into response. Decisions become cleaner, boundaries strengthen, and leadership feels less like something to manage and more like something to inhabit.

Coaching is not an expert voice telling you what to do. The role of the coach is to hold space for clear seeing, honest reflection, and intentional choice. Leaders are naturally capable of learning, growth, and responsibility. Coaching works because it treats that capacity as real and supports leaders in using it.

Over time, this work helps leaders reconnect ambition with care, power with responsibility, and success with fulfillment — so leadership no longer requires self-abandonment to succeed.

How Coaching Typically Works

Every coaching engagement at humanKIND is designed around the individual. There’s no fixed program or prescribed path. This intentionally bespoke structure exists to support depth, consistency, and real change — not to force progress.

While each relationship is shaped by what the leader is navigating, coaching engagements typically include:

  • An initial 90-minute discovery session
    Time to slow down, clarify what’s happening, and identify where leadership feels misaligned or stuck.

  • Two to three coaching sessions per month
    Virtual 45–60 minute conversations focused on real-time leadership decisions, patterns, and choices.

  • Between-session support
    Real-time feedback, insight, and accountability to support reflection and action as situations unfold.

 

This isn’t about following someone else’s playbook. It’s about creating meaningful, lasting change that reflects your values, your leadership style, and what you’re actually trying to build.

Leadership Insight Tools - iEQ9

As part of some coaching engagements, James may incorporate the iEQ9 Professional Assessment to support self-awareness and clarity.

The iEQ9 is a professional Enneagram-based assessment that helps leaders understand how they think, decide, and respond under pressure. It brings visibility to habitual patterns, blind spots, and growth edges — not as labels, but as starting points for reflection and choice.

Used well, the assessment deepens coaching conversations. It helps leaders see their patterns more clearly, take responsibility for their impact, and expand the range of responses available to them.

The assessment is never used to categorize, limit, or define who someone is. It’s one tool among many, and only used when it meaningfully supports the coaching work.

What Coaching Is Not

Clarity matters here.

This is not therapy. Coaching does not focus on diagnosis, healing past wounds, or treating mental health concerns.

It is also not consulting. Coaching does not involve providing solutions, strategies, or recommendations based on content expertise. If this is the help you're looking for, take a look at our functional advisory and consulting work.

Leadership coaching is not corrective or performance management coaching. The aim is not to fix behaviour, but to support development and responsibility.
