Leadership has a human problem.

Human-Centred Leadership for Fulfilled, Sustainable Growth

In a world getting faster, smarter, and more automated, the leaders who will matter most are the ones brave enough to become more human. humanKIND supports leaders who want to perform at a high level without leading in ways that cost them their integrity, energy, or sense of self.

The reframe

The human part is not the liability. It is the advantage.

Something is shifting in leadership. The systems that rewarded control, composure, and performance above all else are starting to show their cost. Leaders who built impressive careers by fragmenting themselves are quietly asking whether this is really how they want to keep going.

At the same time, as AI reshapes what organizations can automate, systematize, and optimize, what remains — what cannot be delegated to an algorithm — is exactly what most leadership models have undervalued. Trust. Care. Human presence. Honest conversation. The willingness to hold complexity without collapsing it into a simple answer.

AI does not make humanity obsolete. It makes humanity the differentiator. For leaders willing to choose it, this is not a crisis. It is a clarifying moment.

humanKIND exists for leaders who are ready to choose the second path. Not because it is easier. Because it is true.

What we mean by human-centred leadership

A practice of leading from wholeness.

Definition — humanKIND

Human-centred leadership is a practice of leading in which the full humanity of the leader — their values, interior life, capacity for care, and genuine self-awareness — is the foundation of how they think, decide, and act. It is not the opposite of high performance. It is the condition that makes high performance sustainable, relational, and worthy of the life it costs.

This is what humanKIND is built around. Not as a philosophy to admire — as a practice to build.

The approach

Leadership is not either/or. It never was.

Most leadership models push people toward extremes. Relentless execution without reflection. Endless introspection without action. Head or heart. Strength or care. Ambition or integrity. humanKIND works in the space those false choices leave empty.

The work is organised around three dimensions — Being, Knowing, and Doing. Not a sequence to move through, and not a framework to master. An orientation. Each dimension draws on the others, and all three are drawn toward the same place: Source — the most honest, grounded, and powerful expression of who you are as a leader. The work is learning to lead from there.

Being

Who you are beneath the performance

Where leadership stops being a role and starts becoming honest. Seeing the patterns built to succeed — and which ones are now costing you clarity, energy, or integrity.

Knowing

What truly fulfils you, and why

Fulfilment is not a reward. It is a lens for decision-making. Clarifying what actually matters — and what kind of leadership is genuinely sustainable for you.

Doing

Action that aligns with who you actually are

Insight only matters if it changes how you lead. This is where clarity turns into movement — cleaner decisions, clearer boundaries, action aligned with who you are, not who you have been performing.

When these three move together, leadership stops feeling like self-betrayal and starts feeling grounded, purposeful, and genuinely alive. This is not softer leadership. It is more honest, more durable, and far more capable of meeting the complexity leaders actually face.

Who this is for

This work is for leaders who want more than survival.

humanKIND works with leaders, founders, executives, and organizations who are ready to lead differently. Not because they are broken — but because they sense that something better is possible and they are willing to do the honest work to build it.

01

Successful by most measures, but sensing a growing gap between how they lead and who they actually are

02

Navigating growth, transition, or increasing complexity — and wanting to do it with integrity intact

03

Carrying a quiet conviction that they have something important to bring into the world, even if they cannot yet fully name it

04

Watching AI reshape their industry and asking what it means to lead when the human part becomes the differentiator

05

Ready to stop performing their leadership and start living it

If something here resonates, trust that. You do not need to have it all figured out. You just need to be honest about where you are.

Ways to work together

Two paths. The same foundation.

humanKIND offers two primary forms of engagement — both grounded in the same human-centred values, both built around the conviction that leadership is better when leaders are whole.

Not sure which path is right?

A conversation is always the right place to start.

Verge · A humanKIND Partnership

A leadership program for men who are done performing.

When men stop performing for each other, something shifts. In how they lead. In how they show up at home. In how they live. Verge is built for men who are ready to find out.

The person behind the practice

James Powell — Founder, humanKIND

In his own words

I did not come to this work through a book. I came to it through a life. I know what it costs to lead in ways that are not aligned with who you actually are — and I know what becomes possible when that changes. Not because I read about it. Because I lived it. And because I have spent fifteen years watching other leaders discover the same thing.
